At 8:40 am on January 1, 2025, a Tesla electric pickup truck exploded in front of the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, killing one person in the car and injuring seven people near the vehicle. The accident caused widespread concern. Witnesses said the explosion occurred when the back of the vehicle first produced a strong flash and sparks, followed by a violent explosion. The location of the accident, near the Trump Hotel in New York City, coincided with New Year's celebrations, and nearby fireworks may have further exacerbated the effect of the explosion.
Tesla founder Elon Musk later responded to the incident via social media, saying that the explosion had nothing to do with the Tesla vehicle itself. He pointed out that after a preliminary investigation, the explosion was caused by the owner of the car may have stored flammable items in the car, especially fireworks, resulting in an accident. In addition, Musk stressed that Tesla's battery system has been proven safe after several years of testing, and similar incidents are very rare.
Police are also involved in the investigation, the initial cause of the explosion may be other fuel in the car or human factors, rather than battery problems. However, Tesla's battery system has also been the focus of public discussion several times due to its fire risk. Despite this, Musk insisted that the battery itself did not cause the accident, and the investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
The incident has sparked widespread debate about the safety of electric vehicles, vehicle regulations and emergency response in the event of an accident.

there’s a lot of factors that might be at play.
1) they might have an HD camera that is covering the entire street, but the incident takes place in a very small portion of the frx (i.e. maybe they’re zoomed in on only a few thousand pixels instead of the 2 million 1080p pixels) The cameras are usually trying to cover a large area (e.g. bank, maybe there’s a camera covering the entire lobby or row of tellers, not 1 camera per teller)
2) maybe incident occurs at night, which a lot of cameras have trouble with.
3) they might have zoomed in & cropped to avoid showing gore. if someone is injured by the incident, or the driver’s flaming skull comes bouncing down the street 5 seconds after the explosion, that’s not going to make it on the news.
3) there might be several other cameras with better pictures where the footage hasn’t been recovered yet. (maybe.)
4) law enforcement might have better footage they have not released (e.g. police car dashcam?) because reasons.
5) there might be super-clear footage from another camera that doesn’t include the area of interest (e.g. just the yellow flash of light from the explosion reflecting off something)
6) might be cropped to avoid showing recognizable landmarks or street signs to deter curious rubber-neckers.
7) news orgs might be offered better footage but could not secure rights because rights holder wants a million dollars.
8) Maybe the camera is from 1964. there was recently an incident in a Large American City that spends over $1 billion on public security. i saw a picture of police climbing a street lamp to, i kid you not, retrieve the film canister from the surveillance camera covering that street. i was like “how tf is anybody using film for surveillance in the 21st Century, how does that even work? doesn’t it run out of film?” and i went down this rabbit hole and it turns out yeah it is a thing and yeah it has not been upgraded in the decades this city has spent billions of dollars per year and it would not surprise me if it was actually installed in 1964.
on the bright side, the film probably has better resolution than HD digital. lol

I thought that too, I was like; I'm pretty sure lithium just burns. I looked up videos and I was wrong, they can explode. Good examples are e-cig battery failures. Those things are basically flashbangs. Now imagine one the size of a car? I think it could be the guy had something else in his car, maybe fireworks and something went wrong.
6) might be cropped to avoid showing recognizable landmarks or street signs to deter curious rubber-neckers.

Do trucks have trunks?
@wadestanton
Tesla cyber trucks do have trunks. They’ve showed it on the news.
Same place for the high cap battery and that's not a battery explosion.
Dude! It looks like they used a lot of fireworks to ensure that car exploded. That was intentional.
They blow up like that when they blow up. Gasoline is way safer that's why electric cars were abandoned before. Tesla has the highest death rate of any car brand.
@user-ur3gr2qs6i
Yes, these trucks blow up, but not like that. I’ve seen it, these trucks do not catch flame this fast.
It was 100% intentional, how is this being debated? bro put fireworks in his car and blew himself up, it’s been confirmed, use the internet.
@Toader21
Well if the internet says it, it must be true.
@twelfthdoctor4402
Sure man, go read the stars and get your answers from that if that's what you're looking for I understand what you're attempting to argue, but it’s not “the internet” telling me answers, it’s the MULTIPLE investigations from MULTIPLE authorities and sources telling me the answer. The internet is the MEDIUM to get the information. Can’t really believe I just had to explain that, but at the same time, based on what you said, it does kinda make sense that you needed this explanation.
This is just how Lithium-Ion batteries explode. The white smoke, too.
It came from the batteries on the bottom. And it's New Year's. A lot of people have fireworks.
@hanna-liminal
That is not how lithium-ion batteries explode. When EV car batteries "explode," it’s more like they rapidly catch fire. This huge sudden explosive force is not typical of a li-ion battery fire.
The electric battery is made full of tiny batteries, if only one of them overheats or is damaged, the whole bunch will collapse.
@alanqueiroz9957
To be fair, that's what battery management systems are for, but the Cybertruck has been having near constant safety recalls since leaving the factory.
Obviously.
That's what happens when lithium, from the big lithium batteries in electric vehicles, gets in contact with air/oxygen.
Maybe he was transporting some fireworks that somehow were ignited? Seems the driver was in it, maybe he was smoking?
The secondary "firework" like things were definitely battery, but that initial one was a bomb.
That’s what a large lithium battery looks like when it explodes.
@user-ur3gr2qs6i
That's cause it was made by Elon, not fundamentally because of electric cars.
Everyone has been saying fireworks because it looked like fireworks at first. Guess what? It was fireworks! Bravo geniuses.

In the end, most of those that voted for Trump wanted to get the prices down. As stupid as I think it is to vote Trump in again, that's what I'm trying to see. Otherwise, I just see this craziness in America I can't stand.
@babu357
Trump didn’t have a single war, barely any tax problems, great foreign policy, also no Americans were harmed in the Middle East for most of his time in office.

Ahem, a lot of businesses going bankrupt? The hoods got more out of control, btw, and I know this because my family lived in those areas during those times, also Russia was on a roll trying to take over countries.
#BUILD UP OF HYDROGEN GAS <---- Li-ion Batteries absolutely DO explode, it's already happened several times, since most have no knowledge of these events (and try to hide themselves from the information, the news reports, and the associated videos that have previously showed this) they naturally think this doesn't happen.

It IS New Year, which would make sense why he had fireworks in the first place. Maybe it wasn't intentional?
One just blew up in Port Miami. They very much do explode sometimes.
